Scott Grosky, General Manager

Scott Grosky brings over 25 years of hockey experience to our club. He’s coached most age groups including 12 years at the Collegiate level. (10 with FAU)

Some of Scott’s accomplishments include cofounding a College Hockey Conference and serving as its Commissioner. He is currently serving in his 18th year as an Executive Board Member of the Florida Panthers Scholastic Hockey League, a marquee High School hockey program. 

Scott is originally from Chicago and has lived in Fort Lauderdale since beginning college.  An established yacht broker, he enjoys helping clients create lifetime memories on the water. 

Scott and both his children are FAU alumni. 

Gary Kaufman, Advisory Board Member, Community Involvement

Gary has been involved with the FAU Hockey Club since 2017. He came to a few games as a fan, got excited about the team and wanted to get involved. As the General Manager from 2017-2022, he was instrumental in growing the program and fan base at the university, local community and national levels. Beginning with the 2022-2023 season, Gary transitioned to his current role as an advisory member on the Board, where he focuses on community awareness and involvement. Outside of FAU Hockey Club, Gary owns an IT recruiting agency and is involved in a number of community volunteer activities. His passion for hockey began as a kid, watching the NY Rangers play in MSG with his Dad.

Dan BouganimBusiness Manager

Dan grew up playing hockey on the ponds of Marlborough, MA and continued to play through high school in his home town. After graduating from UMass, he rediscoved his love for the game and became a volunteer “Learn to Play” instructor and recreational coach for the City of Yonkers, NY.  He soon moved on to coaching Tier 1 youth hockey for the Snapple/Westerchester Express for 3 years. At the same time, we began coaching at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY and stayed there for over 10 years. Upon moving to Florida in 2013, he became a coach for the Palm Beach Hawks youth program, coaching multiple age groups during his 5 years which ended in 2018 when he joined the FAU Ice Hockey Club as an Assistant. This will be his 6th year with the FAU Hockey Club and he looks forward to helping the Club from the administrative side.

Mark Renner, Advisory Board

Originally from Smithtown, New York, Mark played high school hockey and graduated as the varsity team captain with all-county honors in 1987. Mark moved to Florida and attended Broward Community College and first began coaching youth hockey in 1988, while working at the Sunrise Ice Skating Center. He Later attended and obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from FAU in December of 1991. Mark played for FAU’s club hockey team in ‘90-‘91 when they played in the men’s league at the Gold Coast Ice Arena in Pompano Beach. After graduation, he was hired by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department where he has worked for the last 31 plus years. He as remained active in the South Florida hockey community as both a player and coach. Mark raised a son through local hockey who achieved his goal of playing NCAA Division III for King’s College, in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  Mark obtained his USA Hockey’s Level 4 coaching certificate and has coached various age groups in recreation and AA travel hockey. Throughout his hockey and professional career, he has pursued his passion for helping hard-working players and employees who are not blessed with top-tier talent and/or connections. Mark believes that helping amazing people achieve their goals which is what coaching and mentoring is all about. Mark is impressed with how fat FAU Hockey has come and hopes to contribute to its bright future.  

Mark Hyman, Advisory Board

Mark is from Kings Park, New York and attended the State University of New York at Brockport and graduated with a BA in Physical Education with a Concentration in Sports Management.  As part of his internship upon graduation Mark worked at the National Hockey League offices in New York City as a public relations assistant.  Although an avid New York Islanders fan, Mark took a job at Madison Square Garden in Group Ticket Sales during the day and Ranger game night staff during game days.

Mark later entered the legal field, specifically concentrating on Trusts and Estates and working in both Boston and Florida.  While in Boston, he quickly became an avid Boston University hockey fan and was 25-year season ticket holder.

He has been involved in recreational sports for the past 30 years as a player, coach, and manager in leagues in both Boston and Florida. He has been responsible for team travel, event organization, registrations, tryouts, and served on an Executive Board of a league with 29 teams and 450 members.

When Mark moved to Fort Lauderdale 4 years ago, he missed the college hockey atmosphere. After attending a FAU Hockey Club game last season and made some inquiries about the FAU program and then volunteered to join. Mark is very excited to be involved in assisting FAU Ice Hockey to achieve greater success.

Doug “DJ” Randle, Club President and Advisory Board Member

DJ grew up in Boca Raton, FL where he attended Boca Raton High School.  He has been playing hockey since the age of 8 starting at the Glacier Sharpshooters organization before moving to the Palm Beach Hawks where he was a part of 2 state championship teams.  DJ then moved into the ranks of junior hockey where we played for the Palm Beach Hawks, USPHL and then for 3 years for the Hampton Roads Whalers, USPHL before enrolling at FAU.  He now coaches youth hockey at the Palm Beach Hawks and is a personal trainer for Wolfpack Fitness.  DJ is entering his second year at Club President and, due to his “200 foot playing style”,  is considered by the coaches to be the “Bergeron of Boca”
